About the Profession
Facing up to the ocean
There comes a time when you must make a mile-stone decision such as choosing your profession. Usually, your decision today will have bearing for the rest of your life. Your profession will determine your place in the society, your lifestyle, and, last but not least, how the interests of family are protected. And it is your aspirations and ambitions that should influence your choice.
When making such an important decision and choosing a school that will provide you with the right training for your chosen profession you should take into account:
STATE OF YOUR HEALTH - do you meet the requirements for people working at sea (listed below),
ABILITIES - do you have the skills of lateral thinking, are you a fast learner of foreign languages, and are you able to solve problems independently,
INTERESTS – have you always been interested in things maritime and cutting edge technology,
CHARACTER AND TEMPERAMENT - would you like to work in an international team in tough, often extreme conditions,
EMPLOYMENT PERSPECTIVES - do you want to have a guarantee of a well-paid job after 2.5 years of studies,
If so, you meet all the requirements to become a merchant navy officer.
These are the arguments which make the work at sea very attractive.
